17-Year-old girl gang-raped in a car: Hyderabad

A 17-year-old girl was gang-raped in the Jubilee Hills area of Hyderabad, by 5 men while she was returning home after attending a get-together at a pub. The incident was reported to take place last week on Saturday 28th of May. All accused are said to be minors.

A total of five culprits have been identified based on the statement given by the victim. Apart from Tajuddin Malik, another person Umair Khan, 18, has been identified while the three others are juveniles in conflict with the law. While one juvenile, who has been identified, will be picked and produced before the court tomorrow morning, the special police teams have been looking for others. 

The family members later mentioned to the police that they were suspicious after noticing minor injuries on the girl’s neck. On being asked the girl said that a few men had misbehaved while she was returning home after the party.

This incident happened to take place when the girl was leaving the pub she met some youngsters, who approached her and promised her to drop her home in a Mercedes Benz car. The car was then stopped in the Jubilee Hills area in the dark where the youngsters violated her one after the other and shifted to a Toyota Innova car.

On the 31st of May, the father of the victim had filed a complaint and a rape case had been registered for the alleged gang rape on May 28. The investigators registered a case under IPC Section 354 and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. They then sent her for a medical examination, where she reportedly told the Bharosa center officers about the sexual assault.

According to the Hyderabad deputy commissioner “The victim and the culprits attended a daytime ``non-alcoholic'', ``non-smoking'' college fresher's party at a pub from 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm. After 5.30 pm. Among the 5 accused men Hyderabad, West Zone DCP said that one is reported to be the son of an AIMIM MLA.

The investigation will continue if the victim would be able to provide the investigators with any further details. The DCP stated that the culprits would not spare anyone however high and mighty they are.
