Abandoning elderly parents in Bihar can now lead sons & daughters behind the bars
Abandoning elderly parents will lead to jail terms.

Leader of the Bihar cabinet, chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday gave a green signal to a proposal seeking punishment to sons and daughters who abandon their elderly parents with a jail term.

Nowadays, it's customary to leave elderly parents unaccompanied in old age homes. People spotlight more on independence over the community and joint families. This step is going in the pursuit of helping elderly who are seeking love and affection from their own wards.

Proposed by Bihar social welfare department, having provisions for punishment which included imprisonment if wards don't look after their parents in old ages. The lodged complaints will be registered under the non-bailable section in Bihar.
Looks like the society has lost its morals, that's why we are needing such laws. Now, these laws needs to be implemented suitably without any loopholes.

Another important decisions were also made in the meeting, which included giving government jobs to dependents of martyrs of Phulwama and Kupwada attacks belonging to the state. The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 11.68 crore for preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for construction of a multi-purpose 130-MW Dagmara hydel power project in Supaul district of the state.
