Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu passed away on Tuesday, February 15 at the age of 37 when he met with a road accident near Sonipat in Haryana. The actor was earlier named as an accused in the 2021 Red Fort violence case. Deep was declared dead at the Kharkhoda Hospital in Haryana's Sonipat. A tweet from news agency ANI confirmed the news. "Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu died in a road accident near Sonipat in Haryana, confirms Sonipat Police.
Details awaited. He was also earlier named as an accused in the 2021 Red Fort violence case," read the tweet.Reports stated that the accident took place on Western Peripheral Expressway in Haryana.Mr Sidhu was arrested by the Delhi Police in February last year in connection with a tractor rally by farmers on Republic Day that spiraled into violence after protesters came to the Red Fort and attacked policemen. The farmers were protesting against three new farm laws, which were withdrawn by the center in November 2021.He got bail in April, but was arrested again just after he was released. He was released on bail a second time in late April, with a court in Delhi making it clear he has to appear for questioning whenever the police called him. The Haryana Police said that the actor's car rammed into a standing truck near Pipli toll at Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway. The actor was reportedly accompanied by his partner, Reena Rai.According to the police, Reena was on the left side of the car which was not heavily damaged. After the accident, the airbag on Reena's side opened immediately, saving her life. She was wearing a seatbelt and her airbag did not burst after opening. However, in the case of Deep Sidhu, the airbag on his side exploded after opening, said reports.Following the shocking news of his death, his photographs from Valentine's Day started to go viral on social media.
On Monday (February 14), Reena had shared images of the two celebrating Valentine's Day on her Instagram stories, little knowing perhaps that it would be their last pic together. Reena had shared a mirror selfie with Deep wherein the two were posing together and one could spot rose petals on the floor. "Happy valentines day," read Reena's caption.As per several reports, Reena Rai is a US-based actor who starred with Sidhu in the 2018 movie Rang Punjab.While Deep had not shared anything on Valentine’s Day, he had in May last year, posted a photo of the two on Instagram, thanking her for standing by him. "You stood by when the whole world was against, protected me, held my respect, gave me strength, prayed for my cause and freedom but what truly has touched my heart and soul when you paused your life for me, you being there means a lot for me, your love and support is beyond any description, you are beyond my words and i truly feel blessed to have soul like you in my life, I just wanna say I love you," he wrote.
