Layer shot issued an apology on promoting 'Rape Culture'

On Monday, 6 June, Layer shot company released a statement, apologizing for two ads for their body spray 'Shot' which caused outrage over the weekend for 'promoting rape culture.' It seems like they are not advertising perfume, they are more promoting gang rape culture. Allegedly insulting women is not cool. Talking to Instagram, the brand conveyed its statement, "This is with reference to our recent two TV advertisements of Layer's SHOT on various broadcasting platforms. We, the brand Layer's SHOT would like to inform one and all that only after due & mandatory approvals, we have aired the advertisements, wherein, we never intended to hurt anyone's sentiments or feelings or outrage any women's modesty or promote any sort of culture, as wrongly perceived by some."
Later added, "However, we sincerely apologize for the advertisements that consequently caused rage amongst individuals & several communities and beg their pardon. Most importantly, we have voluntarily informed all our media partners to stop the telecast/broadcasting of both the TV advertisements from 4th June with immediate effect."
In the advertisement, they showed four men standing behind a woman who was talking about who will get a shot first. When the women turned around to see that one of them grabbed a bottle of “shot” which was kept on the shelf. The ministry of information and broadcasting has asked the social media platforms Twitter and youtube to remove this controversial advertisement.
Rape is an offensive act how could society make fun of women in terms of commenting or checking out a woman. Committing crimes like rape is not a joke. It's high time to think about how our society is a double standard? Making fun of other women and respecting their own mother or sister at the same time. Men need to stop being sexist and should learn how to respect women. Such advertisements in our society influence people to commit crimes.
