There are certain obituaries you don’t want to write, or may not have thought to write.
And this is one of them. Irrfan khan, one of the finest actor of our country passed away
on Wednesday at the age of 53. Khan was born as Saahabzaade Irfan Ali Khan in Jaipur
in 1966. Khan was struggling with health complications. He was recently admitted to
Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai for a colon infection.

The actor’s team officially confirmed the news with a statement:
‘I trust, I have surrendered,’ these were the some of the many words that Irrfan expressed
in a heartfelt note he wrote in 2018 opening up about his fight with cancer. And a man of
few words and an actor of silent expressions with his deep eyes and his memorable
actions on screen. It’s saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him
passing away. Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always
inspired everyone who came close to him. After having been struck by lightning in 2018
with the news of a rare cancer, he took life soon after as it came and he fought the many
battles that came with it. Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared
about, he left for heaven abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and
hope that he is at peace. And to resonate and part with his words he had said, ‘As if I was
tasting life for the first time, the magical side of it’.
Many celebrities express their sadness at his death. Bollywood Actor Amitabh Bachchan
tweeted, “just getting news of the passing of Irfaan Khan ... this is a most disturbing and
sad news ... An incredible talent ... a gracious colleague ... a prolific contributor to the
World of Cinema ... left us too soon .. Creating a huge vacuum... Prayers and duas.”
Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar also tweeted, “My dear friend Irfaan. You fought and fought
and fought. I will always be proud of you... we shall meet again... condolences to Sutapa
and Babil... you too fought, Sutapa you gave everything possible in this fight. Peace and
Om shanti. Irfaan Khan salute.”
Irrfan Khan’s was first seen in Shyam Benegal’s tele serial ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’, from where
we came to know that someone really special has made his presence and will nestle down
in our hearts. And, for over thirty years he came up with something special and ruled our
hearts.
Irrfan Khan is known for a range of successful films and his performances in them, such
as Paan Singh Tomar, The Lunchbox, Haider, Piku, Hindi Medium, among others. He
also maintained his career in Hollywood such as Life of Pi, Slumdog Millionaire, Inferno,
Jurassic World, The Amazing Spider-Man, and many more.

Irrfan Khan has won many awards: His film Life of Pi won 4 Oscars while having been
nominated for 10. He had also won the Film producers Guild Award for Best Actor in a
Supporting Role for ‘Life in a Metro’. Also, he had been dominated multiple time for
films like Haider, Dabba, Haasil and Piku. His film Dabba had also won him the
Outstanding Achievement Award at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival, along with the Best
Actor at the Asian Film Awards. Irrfan had also bagged the Best Actor in a Leading Role
and Best Actor in a Supporting Role at IIFA for Hindi Medium and Life in a Metro
respectively.
He had also shared the award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinema with the legendary
Sharmila Tagore. In the year 2012, his biography of athlete turned dacoit, Paan Singh
Tomar won him a national award for Best Actor.
Although, he has passed away but his legacy will live in the distinguished work of art that
he has created during all his years in the film industry.
